Day 32 – Gilbert Gottfried Goes to the Proctologist
A couple of weeks ago, my friend Greg requested that I do my Gilbert Gottfried impression. Or more specifically, “Gilbert Gottfried Goes to the Proctologist” as part of my 100 Voices in 100 Days project.
My initial reaction was apprehension. I mean, isn’t anyone “goes to the proctologist” kind of low-hanging fruit? Gilbert Gottfried tells dirty jokes, and I’m pretty sure I’ve heard him tell at least one about a guy who goes to a proctologist. So, would it be too easy?
On the other hand, I’ve been loving Gilbert’s podcast (link below) since it began – and his love of old movies and television is really remarkable. Many of the guests on his podcast have incredible stories which, if not for Gilbert’s podcast, would be left untold. He even delivered a eulogy at Abe Vigoda’s funeral service. No kidding.
Unfortunatley, it didn’t matter. When I tried to record it a couple weeks ago, I couldn’t. Whether it was allergies, or just the fact that I hadn’t done a Gilbert Gottfried impression in a while, my voice wouldn’t hit the notes. So, back on the shelf it went.
After putting it off for a while now, I finally decided that today was the day. I need 100 voices, after all – so each one counts! I’d push and squeeze my voice until it did my bidding (at least enough for today’s episode). And for fans of Gilbert’s Amazing Colossal Podcast, I worked in a reference that even Gilbert himself might laugh at.
In closing, I really like Gilbert, and I hope his visits to the proctologist are pleasant and without concern.
