Day 16 – James McAvoy Orders a Burrito
I’ll start with a full disclosure. I thought I had a pretty good handle on James McAvoy prior to this. I’d done a handful of movie trailer ADR auditions and trailer scratch for X-Men: Apocalypse in the last few months, and I was pretty happy with how it sounded. Of course, I was doing a my best voice match for James McAvoy, doing his version of a younger Patrick Stewart, as Professor Xavier.
Turns out James McAvoy, the human being, sounds a bit different.
So, I studied some footage from interviews (by the way, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy do great interviews together) and in about an hour, cobbled together his cadence and tone, and tried to emulate his dialect. A pretty tall order, but that’s what 100 Voices in 100 Days is all about. I’m committed to it, and every day is a new voice, ready or not.
