Day 10 – Gary Busey is Tech Support

It will be tough to top last Friday’s episode – John Malkovich is Not Happy With OK Cupid – but with ninety voices to go, there’s no slowing down.  It’s day ten.  And the time is right for my Gary Busey impression.

His is another voice which is as distinct as his persona.  He started his entertainment career as a musician, playing drums on a few Leon Russell tracks before finding his way to TV (he was the last person to be killed on the hit show Gunsmoke in the third-to-last episode of the series in 1975).  His film credits are extensive, but my most vivid memories of Gary Busey come from the 1980’s.  He was everywhere.  Siver Bullet, Lethal Weapon, Point Break…  And who can forget Hider in the House?  Right. Everyone.

Speaking of relatively obscure Busey vehicles – one of my favorites was the 2003 cable series, I’m With Busey, on Comedy Central.  It was only a single 13 episode season, but I really liked it.

Over the last decade, Gary has taken the reality TV route to keep doing what he loves – but it’s easy to forget that the guy who won Celebrity Big Brother 14 was nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of Buddy Holly in The Buddy Holly Story in 1979.  He may be an odd duck, but he’s interesting.  And we should all be so lucky when we’re 71.
